Get Smarter – Aquascutum
Upmarket outerwear heritage brand Aquascutum (Latin for watershield) is going through hard times at the moment and has had to close its Corby factory on the instructions of the administrators. Whilst this signals the end of UK production for the brand it looks like they will continue in some way, shape or form possibly under new ownership. After all not many brands can trace their history back to 1851 and can lay claim to supplying troops and officers in the Crimean war and both world wars.
Here we take a look at the groovy side of Aquascutum – or in the Get Carter case the grittier side of Aquascutum. For the film buffs amongst you, the trench coat Michael Caine wore in his role as Jack Carter in the 1971 Mike Hodges’ classic sold in December 2011 for 7,500 of your UK pounds.
