Unexpected Gem: Johnny Mathis – Evil Ways
Next up in our occasional series of Unexpected Gems is Grammy winning American singer-songwriter Johnny Mathis with this 1970 Columbia release and Northern Soul-esque dancer ‘Evil Ways’.
We knew Mr Mathis had an unexpected gem in his extensive back-catalogue and we’ve finally found it. The track was written by Clarence ‘Sonny’ Henry and first recorded by Willie Bono in 1967. Santana covered it in 1969 and a year later Johnny Mathis put his stamp on it. Check it out below it ain’t half bad !
