Public Enemy Deconstructed
The good people at Solid Steel Radio have been at it again and as part of their 25th anniversary celebrations have managed to come up with another hour’s worth of highly recommended listening, this time courtesy of the undoubted, undisputed King of the Mixtapes – the man we all know and love as DJ Moneyshot.
It just so happens that Public Enemy’s iconic, influential, era-defining album ‘It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold us Back’ is also 25 years old and by way of a commemoration Solid Steel requested Moneyshot work his magic to deconstruct, dissect, dismantle and then re-assemble the Bomb Squad sample-fest into and hour-long radio show entitled ‘Solid Steel and the Hour of Chaos. Featuring some 80-odd samples it takes in the words of Louis Farrakhan, interviews with Hank Shocklee (Bomb Squad producer) plus samples varying from Aretha to Slayer to David Bowie and Queen.
Check out the finest from Long Island’s favourite sons reimagined and repackaged by Bristol’s very own mixtape master.
