We’ve featured multi-artist gigs before most notably the massive Wattstax event from 1972. Here we look at the programme (or program for our American readers) from the Texas Pop Festival of 1969 which followed hot on the heels of Woodstock just a fortnight after. It was held over the Labor Day (or Labour Day for our UK readers) weekend running from August 30th to September 1st and best estimates put the attendance at between 120-150,000.

The event took place in Lewisville just north of Dallas and featured a stellar line-up that we would have loved to see. Amongst others were Chicago, Rotary Connection and Led Zeppelin. Such was the success of the event there’s even a marker post in Lewisville commemorating the event. Must have been good! Have a look at the programme / program here and imagine what a cracking weekend it must have been.
