Before he was turning on his Sex bombs with Mousse T and collaborating with fellow Welsh singers such as Cerys Mathews and Kelly Jones, Tom was duetting with the best of them on his show This is Tom Jones, which ran from 1969-1971.
There were 65 episodes in the series, and the guests that appeared on the show read like a Who’s who of music from that era. Each week bands and artists performed their latest tunes, Tom would perform a cool cover version and then he teamed up with some of his guests.
Recently some of the great moments from the series have turned up on youtube and we thought we’d share with you our Top Ten “This is Tom Jones” tunes.
Heading the list is the jaw-dropping performance of Long Time Gone with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Amongst the duets are a couple of funky covers versions - Chicago’s 25 or 6 to 4 and The Temptations epic Ball of Confusion.
Ladies and Gentlemen,This is Tom Jones. Enjoy!
